Craig R. Brooks DVM

Dr. Craig Brooks was raised in the Central Valley of California in the apricot capital of the world, Patterson. His family farmed (you guessed it) apricots and he had the privilege of growing up with many different animals on the farm. He was an avid FFA member and enjoyed caring for and showing animals. His desire to become a Veterinarian arose in Jr. High, and with hard work and perseverance he realized his dream when he graduated from UC Davis in 1986 as a veterinarian.

Dr. Brooks has practiced equine medicine his entire tenure as a veterinarian. He owned and operated a mobile veterinary practice for his first 10 years out of school. He opened Taylor Veterinary Hospital in 1996, building a full in-house equine and small animal hospital facility. Now he was able to provide the quality veterinary medicine he so desired in the setting of a full service hospital.  His current focus is equine reproduction, surgery, both general surgery and small animal orthopedics , and practice management.

Dr. Brooks and his wife Samantha have been married for over 25 years and have five wonderful children. His faith and family, he would tell you, are the two most important things in his life. Horses and caring for them will however take a close 3rd.

Chuck Whitmer

Chuck Whitmer, DVM

Doctor Chuck Whitmer grew up in Fallon, Nevada working with cattle and horses. His experience in the veterinary industry began in Nevada working with his hometown veterinarian his senior year of high school. Before attending veterinary school he worked as a veterinary assistant, technician and assistant practice manager. While working he attended the University of Nevada in Reno and received his B.S. degree in Animal Science. GO PACK! He later went to veterinary school at Colorado State University where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He then stayed on at CSU for a one year internship with the Equine Ambulatory Team. After completing his internship he joined the Taylor Equine team as a full time equine veterinary associate. Dr. Whitmer is available to our clients for all of their equine wellness, lameness, reproduction and emergency needs. He especially enjoys lameness, reproduction and surgical cases. When he isn’t working he does leather work on saddle construction and fit for western horse as well as spending time with his beautiful wife Shannon

and their two children Tate and Ella. A few of his hobbies include team roping, saddle making and brewing beer.

Jessica Anderson

Jessica Anderson, DVM

Dr. Jessica Anderson grew up in South Florida where from a very young age, it was apparent that she had a passion for horses. She became involved with American Saddlebred show horses and competed at shows all over the country while growing up and through college. She also spent summers riding pleasure horses in the mountains of Montana where her father grew up. In 2009, Dr. Anderson earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida. She spent the next two years working for various equine practices as a veterinary technician in Lexington, Kentucky and Ocala, Florida. It was during this time that her interest in equine veterinary medicine grew, and she knew that her dream would be to become an equine veterinarian. Dr. Anderson went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in St. Kitts, West Indies, after completing her clinical year at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in January of 2015. She then promptly moved across the country to Southern California to complete a 16 month internship with West Coast Equine Medicine in Fallbrook.

Dr. Anderson has joined our team and is now a full time associate here at Taylor Equine hospital. She will be available for all of your horse's veterinary needs including emergency calls. Her particular interests are in equine sports medicine, alternative medicine, and rescue horse rehabilitation, but she truly enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine in general. Dr. Anderson is currently enrolled in a program and is undergoing training to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the CHI Institute of Integrative Veterinary Medicine in Reddick, Florida. She anticipates earning this certification in December of 2016, and is looking forward to being able to offer Acupuncture therapy to the patients of Taylor Equine Hospital. Outside of work and study, Dr. Anderson enjoys traveling and going on adventures with her rescue dog, Carib, who she adopted during vet school in St. Kitts.
